Running In Barcelona

The city offers a wide variety of places where you can train according to your level and the intensity of training you are looking for. Here below are three routes for you to enjoy your run and the city at the same time.

Passeig Marítim (asphalt & sand)
We recommend two routes along Barcelona’s sea front where you can enjoy the anti-stress benefits of the Mediterranean. The first runs along Carrer Arquitect Sert and Carrer Bac de Roda, and the second stretches from the fabulous Mapfre tower to Barceloneta beach, where you can enjoy a refreshing swim or just a dip when you finish, depending on the time of year and how brave you’re feeling.

Montjuïc (asphalt & dirt trail)
Although it may seem quite far at first glance, it is in fact relatively near Plaça d’Espanya on foot, and the air quality and aerial views over the city get better as you run up the mountain. It has several peaceful, relaxing gardens for lovers of running, with water fountains dotted around where you can cool down when you need to. The mountain is home to many of the facilities where events of the 1992 Barcelona Olympic Games took place.

Can Dragó (asphalt & dirt trail)
In the Nou Barris district is Can Dragó park, which offers runners a 900-metre route that will take you along Avinguda Meridiana, Avinguda Río Janeiro, Passeig d’Andreu Nin and Passeig Valldaura. It covers three blocks and has a total area of 11.86 hectares. At the southern end (bordered by Carrer Pintor Alsamora, Avinguda Meridiana, Avinguda Rio de Janeiro and Passeig Andreu Nin) is the Porta football ground, an area for dogs, a children’s playground and the main part of the park’s gardens. In the middle block (located between Carrer Pintor Alsamora, Carrer Rosselló i Porcel,  Avinguda Meridiana and Passeig Andreu Nin) are the Can Dragó swimming pools, a golf course and public sports facilities such as basketball hoops, table tennis tables and pétanque courts. In the northern block (bordered by Carrer Rosselló i Porcel, Avinguda Meridian, Passeig Valldaura and Passeig Andreu Nin) you can find athletics facilities and the Palestra sports centre.
